Hey there. Recently I have been cleaning up my closet and spotted this bright coloured dress with an asian vibe, from the VERSACE for H&M collection 2012. May I just say that their collection was to DIE for. The dress has shiny red mousse shoulder pads (an 80's comeback) and geometrical cut outs on the neck. I love the colour palette on this dress, the beautiful floral details and vibrant origamis designs on the fabric are so sweet. The arms come in two different colours, i love that, as its Quirky....reminds me of something that the Spicegirl's would have worn. If you guys read my last blog (Alexander Wang collab with H&M) I threw on a super thick and textured Alexander Wang jumper over this dress. Its nice falling in love again with a piece i've owned for ages. MY ADVICE: skim through your wardrobe once in a while, mix-match and re-vive xxx bye bye
Hi everybody. Yesss the moment is finally here... The Alexander Wang's electric capsule collection for H&M. I have been waiting for the collection since the minute I heard about the collab last year. I follow Alexander Wang on Instagram and 'of course' joined the facebook event... yep I've been really excited. I remember one of the last collabs with H&M which was with the house of Versace and the collection was absolutely devine. I'm not a huge H&M fan but especially love their collaborations with haute couture designers. An affordable way to build a luxurious wardrobe at a fraction of the costs. After queuing for over an hour at H&M Nice, my nervousness and excitement paid off. The minute I laid my eyes on the collection, I knew I would love it all. I noticed Alexander Wang used a lot of neoprene, mesh and perforated leather in his collection. As I am a huge fan of black and white, the collection was so appealing to me. The collection also tied in a sports theme and underground edge. I purchased two square crop tops in white and a black with the WANG logo embossed. In the photos I paired the crop top with an ultra cool pair of Alexander Wang's high waisted black leather jogging pants. What I love about the pants is its loose fit. I styled my look with a chunky crystal ear cuff and my black platform heels. I generally kept the look sleek and crisp. My next piece was an ultra thick rigid, neoprene textured jumper, chunky, heavy but edgy. In my shoot I teamed it with a bright coloured Versace/H&M dress and a pair of black platform birkenstock's and an on-trend holographic clutch. My final piece that I loved and will be using quite a bit, is the Alexander Wang sports shorts. Here he mixed a scuba stretch fabric and mesh. Modern, textured and sporty!!!
After my quick, maniac shop....I then found out that a few pieces of the collection was also available online, and was fortunate enough to order a few more pieces and shall blog about them when I receive them. The Alexander Wang H&M collection personally appealed to me, mainly because of its modern edge and sporty simplicity and of course the affordability. xxx Tara
So...I recently received a gift in a cute brown paper bag from my mum on my return from my austrian school exchange...from my fav skincare brand KIEHL'S. Ever since I first spotted a Kiehl's store I have been converted. Their stores shout out modern-day apothecary. Their illuminated new yorker styled brick walls and cabinets full of herbal cosmetics is so enticing. Kiel's is an american brand founded in 1851, its 163 years old...you guys! Kiel's philosophy is about choosing the very best naturally derived ingredients based on herbal and pharmaceutical ingredients. The branding has apothecary roots and looks like it was made in the back of an organic store. Their products are not tested on animals (which is always a plus and a must for me) and full of beautiful herbal extracts. My Review: the toner that I received from my lovely mummy is the calendula toner - 100% pure calendula and secret herbal extracts. It's for normal to oily skin. The toner has a tinge of orange with long natural leaves floating around in the bottle. It's one of the best toners I have ever used, it's gentle on the skin and get's rid of any makeup residue and leaves a very pleasant organic after smell. Anyone who knows me, knows that i'm a lip balm addict....so mum also gifted me with a Kiehls mango lip balm, their recipes based on the oil extracted from the cotton grain which is frequently used in cosmetics due to it's moisturising factors. It's now my holy grail lip balm and rapidly fixes my chapped lips. Love, love, love Kiehl's and am definitely going to invest in some more products, my next purchase will probably be their rare earth pore minimiser moisturiser.
I am currently on an exchange in Austria and am sitting on the train and just feel like blogging. Yesterday I strolled through some exquisite boutiques and spotted the transition of summer fashion to autumn. I guess we have to say 'au-revoir' to the shorts and sandals... and say hi to sweaters. I love sweaters, super-extra-large sweaters.... I mean there are so cosy, you can literally bury yourself in them. They are great on days when I'm too lazy to layer my clothes and would rather just throw it on with a statement necklace or earrings. Scrolling through Tumblr and flipping through endless pages of magazines I noticed that really oversized sweaters are in but not like last year. This year its all about the chunkiness and size: the thicker and bigger the better. Now make sure that when you wear such a jumper you have to go skinny on the bottom, remember proportions matter. Trust me I tried styling these bad boys and when i paired a huge jumper with really baggy pants I looked like a marshmallow... yeah not so awesome.
I also love chunky sweaters with turtle necks... yeah its not everyones cup-of-tea but with skinny black jeans, chunky chelsea boots and some statement silver accessories..THE LOOK ROCKS. (silver + black = LIKE/Teen-i-Am).
You all must be thinking: "OMG why is she always wearing black?!?"... well it's because it's a super awsesome colour haha. Anyways... you guys know how denim on denim made a HUGE comeback a while ago and still is in, well I wanted to put a twist on things and replace my love for denim with leather. It's totally a purr-fect look for fall and winter.
My look: A square black LLBD (leather little black dress) from Topshop with a rad leather jacket from Paul and Joe, with detailed zippers all over the jacket.
My accessories: Clear black leather studded clutch from Boohoo and my Hermes inspired shiny silver studded crocodile skin cuff.
FYI: Silver hardwear accessories make my heart melt and pairing it with anything black.... just works. Sleek look, MY FAVE !! Have a great day loveliezzz xxx bisous Tara
Pretty stoked as i'm heading off to Austria for a student exchange and can't wait to get inspired with their little boutiques and Austrian street fashion. As you may already know, my fave colour is black. Well yes, I do know it's not a actual colour but if i could have an all black closet, I would. Now don't get me wrong I'm not a goth princess, i'm more of a modern style lover. Neutrals like black and white are such versatile and classy looking colours. To get the modern look you have to play with textures, be bold and try new clothing pieces, don't worry about what other people think. Textures are IN, designers such as Alexander Wang, House of Holland etc... are masters of textured clothing. Todays shoot... I put my hair up in a sleek high ponytail and a thin plastic tattoo choker. The top I have on is from Repetto (the gurus of ballerina shoes and dance clothing). The top's super tight and has a 'spanx' stretch. My shorts are from Lucas Hugh and it's textured, with a thin plasticky material, as thin as a bin bag....hi!hi!, with triangulaire leather cutout on the sides. Teamed with my beloved black T.U.K creepers, it gives me height and makes me look edgier. Play around with what you have in your closet and totally make it your own personal look. Embrace your weirdness and go all out. BE DIFFERENT, BE THE UNIQUE YOU xxx tara
Today I wanted to blog about this fab book written by one of my all time fav fashion icons: Alexa Chung. She was a former model, chinese descent and has won 3 British style awards and has a Mulberry bag named after her. Apparently while Alexa was writing her book she wore a One Direction onesie, what a trendsetter. And when I found out that she wrote a book I was so stoked as was one of the first ones to order the book. The cover of this book is gorgeous,it's covered in a pastel pink fabric and has a little square photo of a womans eye and has the title embroided on the cover. It's a very delicate looking book and I display it on my shelve in my room, my girlfriends always seem to pick up the book and scan through the pretty pages filled with Alexa Chung's doodles and random photos. The scrap book style book is funny especially if you know absolutely nothing about Alexa but once you finish reading this book you will love Alexa a little more. It's because she doesn't take herself too seriously and is not afraid to be herself. The book has a very whimsical tone and is an easy read. So whenever I'm bored or want to be distracted I open up 'It' and sip on a big mug of tea. There are 161 pictures in this book, that's a lot for a 192 page book. The book is not about a celebrity's self obsession but rather the story of her journey into becoming an 'IT' girl and confessing her awkward pre-teen stages. She talks about her style inspirations, the way she likes to take photos in the mirror and how when she gets a new converse she rubs mud on it because she hates the look of squeaky clean shoes. I love this book, you will love it too, especially if you are a fashionista who loves reading about fashion inspirations, tips and awkward teen memories. I would definitely give this book a go
I was so excited when I shot this sporty chic lookbook because I've always been a huge fan of sporty fashion. And instead of making my sporty look tomboyish or too casual, I wanted to incorporate a 'fashion diva chic' factor to the look. One of the key elements to the sporty look is 'textures' and the one key element to the chic look is 'minimalism'. This outfit is monochrome inspired and is kind of risky due to the cut out cropped top and huge sun visor. Now you probably don't have all of these clothing pieces in your closet but you can always mix and match what you have.
For this look I threw on a crisp white crop top from Zara with a geometrical cut to it. This crop top is very figure flattering and versatile, I wore this cropped top with embellished shorts at an indian wedding and at my prom with a dusty pink maxi skirt.
On this shoot I paired the cropped top with white oversized nike sweatpants. If you wear the oversized sweats low on the hips, it looks very sporty and laid back. The black mesh jacket is from nike and it adds texture to the outfit. Mesh is a very modern looking fabric and makes an outfit look very sporty. I did spot alot of mesh in one of teen-vogues sporty photoshoots, I was in love the minute I set my eyes on the fabric. The shoes that I have on are white platform high-top all star converse, I literally live in these babies, my mum keeps pointing out that i have other pairs of shoes in my wardrobe, no offence mum but it's just that they go with everything. Of course you can pair some chunky high tops (supra) or sneakers with this look as long as you stick with the sporty chic vibe. And for accessories I topped it off with a huge sun visor. Now you either love of hate sun visors, and I love them. If you don't have a sunvisor, an alternative would be a black or white sports cap (keep it simple).
Now to pull off the sporty chic vibe remember to keep it simple, mix textures and play with clothing proportions.
Hope you guys enjoyed this look and will be posting another lookbook soon.
Slowly getting my closet ready for Fall, and hope to accessorise with my new found love: my i-phone case.
This case comes in the shape of a Chanel No.5 perfume bottle. Have spotted this particular case all over tumblr and have screen shot it several times, one day hoping to own one. And i finally do. Totally recommend it....it's so pretty and dainty in clear plastic, Chanel engraved gold plate, a bottle cap and a thin gold chain shoulder strap to hang off your shoulder.....so practical and super stylish. If you want to have a 'Tumblr' worthy of looking item this is something to purchase.
xxxxx bisous bisous
