This look definitely screams soft-grunge and is a great transition outfit from winter to spring. This super cosy checked baby doll dress in from H&M. The suede black knee high boots are from Topshop (one of my fave shoes) and the matt snap back is from Rihannas collection for River Island. If you dont have knee high boots, knee high socks and booties are a great alternative to create this look. The hair was insprired by Vera Wang's SS15 runway, the little plaits adds a boho touch this look.. The the plum lipstick enhances this grungy look.
Here is a minimalistic lookbook featuring Alexia C. The look we were going for was something elegant, sleek and simplistic. I adore neutral colours and I think I would wear this look any day. The leather dress is from Topshop, its boxiness and texture portray a very modern look. The white tennis shoes compliments the wooly grey coat, keeping it age appropriate. (both pieces are from Zara). The hair was inspired by Missoni's catwalk S/S 14 show. The simplistic knot is one of my favourite hair do's, its daring and chic. The only one accessory in this look is an oversized chloe bag with matt gold hardwear. I didnt want any vibrant colours for this look but the matt dark wine coloured lipstick from Lime Crime (wicked) held the stage. This look reminds me of something you would see on the Celine runway and is appropriate for a day in the city.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to a charity fashion show last night at the Novotel Cannes Montfleury for a charity called GIRLS RISING. They have launched a global campaign to inspire action that gets girls into classrooms worldwide. Girl Rising uses storytelling to inspire action.
"Educating girls can break cycles of poverty in just one generation, yet millions of girls are not at school". The night was sponsored by currencies direct and hosted by Riviera Radio and Melanie Gulliver of PWN-European Professional Womens Network. The fashion show included designers such as BCBG Maxazria, Petit Bateau, Annika, Father and Sons, Le Coin des Coureuse and Stella & Dot jewellery...especially loved the runway models, some familiar faces.
Join the Girl Rising movement. Lets help girls everywhere get an education.
Hope you've all been well. I have been quite busy recently with LYCEE and my teenage-life in general but have really missed blogging. Let's jump straight into today's post. I've been obsessed with a Danish fashion label called Sons of Williams, working out of Copenhagen and New York. Been following them on Instagram for a while. Their clothing line is minimalistic, crisp, a lot of black and white, textured... and very futuristic. Their whole collection comes together, like a story. The quality of the clothes are on point: using edgy modern micro fiber to waterproof fabrics. I so relate to their style of photography and videos. I love their vision for unorthodox styles through simple monochromatic unisex clothing. Each piece has been artistically created and crafted. Julius and Viktor, the creators of this brand recently contacted me and whole heartedly welcomed me to blog about this ultra edgy brand. They sent me pics and vids of their clothing brand as well as a press release from their AW15 collection. Hope you guys like it. Their collection was inspired by a post-apocalypse ice age : Frost Esthetique. The clothes have a really cold, crisp ....Nordic 'edge. In one sentence their clothes look like one of a super sleek swat team leader of America... original no? Why go for basic clothes when one can express their heroic personality and modern style. It gives me the chills when I find people that I can artistically relate to in every way. Here is a link to their website: http://sonsofwilliam.org/ , I literally want to buy everything. Definitely go check out their instagram account, one of my favourite accounts to date.
PRESS RELEASE: SONS OF WILLIAM AUTUMN/ WINTER 2015
The year is 3011. A melting glacier left the earth in frost biting layers of ice formed by the humid oxygen in minus degrees conditions. A total of 5.3 hours of natural light are left in a 24-hour time frame formerly known as day. The surroundings force our attire to focus on functional features; we are under the control of our environment. Materials are put intocontext and the aesthetics only survive in the silhouette.
The cold conditions have erased boundaries and morals from the mind. The need to survive leaves us no choice but to focus on materials, constructions and trimmings: tactical and functional features.
New York, NY, February 2015 – Copenhagenbased unisex label, Sons of William, ispleased to present the Autumn/Winter 2015 collection: Frost Esthetique, inspired by a post-apocalyptic ice age. Founded by two brothers, Julius and Victor Juul, Sons of William sets out to create collections thatfocus on refined functional wear featuringinnovative prints, fabrics and details.
Due to the harsh conditions of the futuristic world that inspired the collection, Sons of William has decontextualized functionality intheir garments. The pieces in the collection are crafted from waterproof textiles, heavy cottons, microfibers combined with solar panels, secret pockets, quick-release bucklesand survival instruction prints. The extensive fabric research and innovation by the brand’s founders transforms into a truly unique visualeffect.
Heavyweight layering is elegantly showcased throughout the collection with thick garments that combine their signature waterprooffabrics with functional trimmings. The line includes double-layered t-shirts, hoodies, waterproof cargo pants as well as a wide outerwear collection that truly commits to the reinvention of tactical and functional wear. Survival inspired waterproof anoraks, trench coats and micro fiber bomber jackets with heavy-duty zippers compliment each other in their monochrome coloring and smooth fabrics.
Signature to the brands aesthetic is the cold and heroic silhouette, like a fearless SWAT-team leader from Antarctica.
Julius and Victor, both in their early-twenties,launched the brand in the beginning of 2014.With the brand’s second collection, the evolution of the Sons of William aesthetic is evident and the first full 25-piece collection by the brothers covers all categories of apparel outwear and accessories (including jackets, hoodies, t-shirts, pants, shorts, bags, hats, shoes, and jewelry).
All items will be ready for immediate orders on SonsofWilliam.org in limited quantities, and full collection will hit stores worldwide in the fall of 2015.
