Today I wanted to blog about this fab book written by one of my all time fav fashion icons: Alexa Chung. She was a former model, chinese descent and has won 3 British style awards and has a Mulberry bag named after her. Apparently while Alexa was writing her book she wore a One Direction onesie, what a trendsetter. And when I found out that she wrote a book I was so stoked as was one of the first ones to order the book. The cover of this book is gorgeous,it's covered in a pastel pink fabric and has a little square photo of a womans eye and has the title embroided on the cover. It's a very delicate looking book and I display it on my shelve in my room, my girlfriends always seem to pick up the book and scan through the pretty pages filled with Alexa Chung's doodles and random photos. The scrap book style book is funny especially if you know absolutely nothing about Alexa but once you finish reading this book you will love Alexa a little more. It's because she doesn't take herself too seriously and is not afraid to be herself. The book has a very whimsical tone and is an easy read. So whenever I'm bored or want to be distracted I open up 'It' and sip on a big mug of tea. There are 161 pictures in this book, that's a lot for a 192 page book. The book is not about a celebrity's self obsession but rather the story of her journey into becoming an 'IT' girl and confessing her awkward pre-teen stages. She talks about her style inspirations, the way she likes to take photos in the mirror and how when she gets a new converse she rubs mud on it because she hates the look of squeaky clean shoes. I love this book, you will love it too, especially if you are a fashionista who loves reading about fashion inspirations, tips and awkward teen memories. I would definitely give this book a go
I was so excited when I shot this sporty chic lookbook because I've always been a huge fan of sporty fashion. And instead of making my sporty look tomboyish or too casual, I wanted to incorporate a 'fashion diva chic' factor to the look. One of the key elements to the sporty look is 'textures' and the one key element to the chic look is 'minimalism'. This outfit is monochrome inspired and is kind of risky due to the cut out cropped top and huge sun visor. Now you probably don't have all of these clothing pieces in your closet but you can always mix and match what you have.
For this look I threw on a crisp white crop top from Zara with a geometrical cut to it. This crop top is very figure flattering and versatile, I wore this cropped top with embellished shorts at an indian wedding and at my prom with a dusty pink maxi skirt.
On this shoot I paired the cropped top with white oversized nike sweatpants. If you wear the oversized sweats low on the hips, it looks very sporty and laid back. The black mesh jacket is from nike and it adds texture to the outfit. Mesh is a very modern looking fabric and makes an outfit look very sporty. I did spot alot of mesh in one of teen-vogues sporty photoshoots, I was in love the minute I set my eyes on the fabric. The shoes that I have on are white platform high-top all star converse, I literally live in these babies, my mum keeps pointing out that i have other pairs of shoes in my wardrobe, no offence mum but it's just that they go with everything. Of course you can pair some chunky high tops (supra) or sneakers with this look as long as you stick with the sporty chic vibe. And for accessories I topped it off with a huge sun visor. Now you either love of hate sun visors, and I love them. If you don't have a sunvisor, an alternative would be a black or white sports cap (keep it simple).
Now to pull off the sporty chic vibe remember to keep it simple, mix textures and play with clothing proportions.
Hope you guys enjoyed this look and will be posting another lookbook soon.
Slowly getting my closet ready for Fall, and hope to accessorise with my new found love: my i-phone case.
This case comes in the shape of a Chanel No.5 perfume bottle. Have spotted this particular case all over tumblr and have screen shot it several times, one day hoping to own one. And i finally do. Totally recommend it....it's so pretty and dainty in clear plastic, Chanel engraved gold plate, a bottle cap and a thin gold chain shoulder strap to hang off your shoulder.....so practical and super stylish. If you want to have a 'Tumblr' worthy of looking item this is something to purchase.
xxxxx bisous bisous
Hoping you're well.... schools back and it's a shame that the long awaited summer holidays are now the past....but a new school year means a fresh start. And talking about 'fresh', I have been loving my latest Tom Ford acquisition. And let me just say that I adore Tom Ford's fashion label, especially my Mum's vintage pieces when he designed for Gucci (which I can't afford yet) but I am proud to own a bottle of Tom Ford's White Patchouli. The packaging comes in all white....very modern and slick, with gold plate in the centre of the bottle, engraved 'For White Patchouli', this finishes the bottle with class and distinction. The second I spotted the bottle at Sephora's I quickly grabbed it and sprayed it on me. And oh boy once I smelt the beautiful essence of patchouli, peony, rose, ambrette seed, bergamot, white flowers and coriander...I was converted. The white patchouli has been in the market since 2008. Tom Ford has several other perfumes such as: Italian Cypress, Velvet Orchid, Neroli Portofino and more... but this one is the bomb. It's definitely not the most flowery, spring kind of scent. It's possesses a more mature and musky kind of scent. IN LOVE and am definitely going to drench myself in this perfume for the fall and winter (probably not drench maybe an extra spray or two)
xxxx bisous Tara
Hi again...back at school and it's kind of weird seeing all the old and new faces. But all is good and I'm back on track! Recently purchased these gorgeous sunnies MiuMiu inspired. They are all black and have geometrical edges. The frames are awesoeme and are slightly on the cat eye shape. The thin gold handles of the frame are stunning and add a delicate touch to the sunnies. I love wearing these glasses with my hair in a bun because it makes the sunglasses the main feature. They are very pretty and are black (ma fave).
Summer is nearly over but i'm still going to use these babies as much as I can.
Enjoying a nice mug of yummy earl grey tea, a couple of teen vogue mags next to my bed (my fave) and of course my computer sitting on my lap. Just chillin with Lana Del Rey's 'Ultraviolence' playing and I kind of am in a really good place. A stress free zone. Anyways back to blogging......recent trend that i'm loving is the 'bindi', an art form popular in the Indian community. A look super hot on Tumbler. If you don't know what it is..... it's basically little indian type embellished stickers, diamanties or coloured powder applied in a dot form on your forehead and near your eyebrows. The bindi is an Indian traditional facial decoration in multitude of colours but red is traditionally for married women. Recently seen celebs sporting their bindi looks...the Kardashians, the Jenners, Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani etc...they looked absolutely gorgeous. You too should try this super hot bohemian fashion statement. Hope you like the pics xxxx ALVIDA (in hindi for goodbye)
So today I wanted to talk about a fashion piece that people either love or hate and most people don't like them at all. What am I referring to? The good old fashioned german Birkenstocks. I remember when I was a child my mum bought me a couple of pairs of bright coloured birks. They were cute at the time but not my style now. And since the Céline spring fashion show in Paris last autumn, cozy fur-lined chunky birkenstock style slip-ons were worn by models. And the fashion DIVAS went crazy over them. From that spring show there were reinterpretation of these luxury Celine shoes. The buckle straps and cork footbed its so comfy and sturdy and is a great fashion revival in my opinion, even though i have been wearing them for years hehe. At least now these shoes are more fashion accepted and fashion forward. Bulky shoes seem more flattering on the leg than you would actually think. There are so many types of birks such as suede, polished, patent or even metallic leather but the flip flop platform type is super sick. I found these babies from Topshop, they are matt black. A fresh manicure and a cute pair of high waisted ripped jeans are must haves to pull of these looks. So many fashion items are coming back in style and I'm glad these shoes are one of them. Grab a pair fast at asos and topshop.
