So...I recently received a gift in a cute brown paper bag from my mum on my return from my austrian school exchange...from my fav skincare brand KIEHL'S. Ever since I first spotted a Kiehl's store I have been converted. Their stores shout out modern-day apothecary. Their illuminated new yorker styled brick walls and cabinets full of herbal cosmetics is so enticing. Kiel's is an american brand founded in 1851, its 163 years old...you guys! Kiel's philosophy is about choosing the very best naturally derived ingredients based on herbal and pharmaceutical ingredients. The branding has apothecary roots and looks like it was made in the back of an organic store. Their products are not tested on animals (which is always a plus and a must for me) and full of beautiful herbal extracts. My Review: the toner that I received from my lovely mummy is the calendula toner - 100% pure calendula and secret herbal extracts. It's for normal to oily skin. The toner has a tinge of orange with long natural leaves floating around in the bottle. It's one of the best toners I have ever used, it's gentle on the skin and get's rid of any makeup residue and leaves a very pleasant organic after smell. Anyone who knows me, knows that i'm a lip balm addict....so mum also gifted me with a Kiehls mango lip balm, their recipes based on the oil extracted from the cotton grain which is frequently used in cosmetics due to it's moisturising factors. It's now my holy grail lip balm and rapidly fixes my chapped lips. Love, love, love Kiehl's and am definitely going to invest in some more products, my next purchase will probably be their rare earth pore minimiser moisturiser.
I am currently on an exchange in Austria and am sitting on the train and just feel like blogging. Yesterday I strolled through some exquisite boutiques and spotted the transition of summer fashion to autumn. I guess we have to say 'au-revoir' to the shorts and sandals... and say hi to sweaters. I love sweaters, super-extra-large sweaters.... I mean there are so cosy, you can literally bury yourself in them. They are great on days when I'm too lazy to layer my clothes and would rather just throw it on with a statement necklace or earrings. Scrolling through Tumblr and flipping through endless pages of magazines I noticed that really oversized sweaters are in but not like last year. This year its all about the chunkiness and size: the thicker and bigger the better. Now make sure that when you wear such a jumper you have to go skinny on the bottom, remember proportions matter. Trust me I tried styling these bad boys and when i paired a huge jumper with really baggy pants I looked like a marshmallow... yeah not so awesome.
I also love chunky sweaters with turtle necks... yeah its not everyones cup-of-tea but with skinny black jeans, chunky chelsea boots and some statement silver accessories..THE LOOK ROCKS. (silver + black = LIKE/Teen-i-Am).
You all must be thinking: "OMG why is she always wearing black?!?"... well it's because it's a super awsesome colour haha. Anyways... you guys know how denim on denim made a HUGE comeback a while ago and still is in, well I wanted to put a twist on things and replace my love for denim with leather. It's totally a purr-fect look for fall and winter.
My look: A square black LLBD (leather little black dress) from Topshop with a rad leather jacket from Paul and Joe, with detailed zippers all over the jacket.
My accessories: Clear black leather studded clutch from Boohoo and my Hermes inspired shiny silver studded crocodile skin cuff.
FYI: Silver hardwear accessories make my heart melt and pairing it with anything black.... just works. Sleek look, MY FAVE !! Have a great day loveliezzz xxx bisous Tara
Pretty stoked as i'm heading off to Austria for a student exchange and can't wait to get inspired with their little boutiques and Austrian street fashion. As you may already know, my fave colour is black. Well yes, I do know it's not a actual colour but if i could have an all black closet, I would. Now don't get me wrong I'm not a goth princess, i'm more of a modern style lover. Neutrals like black and white are such versatile and classy looking colours. To get the modern look you have to play with textures, be bold and try new clothing pieces, don't worry about what other people think. Textures are IN, designers such as Alexander Wang, House of Holland etc... are masters of textured clothing. Todays shoot... I put my hair up in a sleek high ponytail and a thin plastic tattoo choker. The top I have on is from Repetto (the gurus of ballerina shoes and dance clothing). The top's super tight and has a 'spanx' stretch. My shorts are from Lucas Hugh and it's textured, with a thin plasticky material, as thin as a bin bag....hi!hi!, with triangulaire leather cutout on the sides. Teamed with my beloved black T.U.K creepers, it gives me height and makes me look edgier. Play around with what you have in your closet and totally make it your own personal look. Embrace your weirdness and go all out. BE DIFFERENT, BE THE UNIQUE YOU xxx tara
