I was so excited when I shot this sporty chic lookbook because I've always been a huge fan of sporty fashion. And instead of making my sporty look tomboyish or too casual, I wanted to incorporate a 'fashion diva chic' factor to the look. One of the key elements to the sporty look is 'textures' and the one key element to the chic look is 'minimalism'. This outfit is monochrome inspired and is kind of risky due to the cut out cropped top and huge sun visor. Now you probably don't have all of these clothing pieces in your closet but you can always mix and match what you have.
For this look I threw on a crisp white crop top from Zara with a geometrical cut to it. This crop top is very figure flattering and versatile, I wore this cropped top with embellished shorts at an indian wedding and at my prom with a dusty pink maxi skirt.
On this shoot I paired the cropped top with white oversized nike sweatpants. If you wear the oversized sweats low on the hips, it looks very sporty and laid back. The black mesh jacket is from nike and it adds texture to the outfit. Mesh is a very modern looking fabric and makes an outfit look very sporty. I did spot alot of mesh in one of teen-vogues sporty photoshoots, I was in love the minute I set my eyes on the fabric. The shoes that I have on are white platform high-top all star converse, I literally live in these babies, my mum keeps pointing out that i have other pairs of shoes in my wardrobe, no offence mum but it's just that they go with everything. Of course you can pair some chunky high tops (supra) or sneakers with this look as long as you stick with the sporty chic vibe. And for accessories I topped it off with a huge sun visor. Now you either love of hate sun visors, and I love them. If you don't have a sunvisor, an alternative would be a black or white sports cap (keep it simple).
Now to pull off the sporty chic vibe remember to keep it simple, mix textures and play with clothing proportions.
Hope you guys enjoyed this look and will be posting another lookbook soon.
